This was... interesting. My spidey sense starts to go off the instant I walk into the Saints Row booth. It's decked top to bottom in purple, full of martini glasses (all empty) and on each of the screens there is at least one dead cop, killed by a dildo. I knew immediately that we were in for something disturbing. Fun, but disturbing.
Each set up was at a point in the story where no one knew what to do, so we all just went insane and caused as much chaos as we possibly could. Starting with the dildos. In case you've never watched that internet video before, yes, you will get to kill people with a giant sex toy. It's crazy, it makes no sense... but that's what makes Saints Row as fun as it is. What once started off as a GTA knock off has now found its niche and is rolling with whatever thought rolls through the insane minds of its developers.
While it is fun and entertaining, there were some aspects of the demo that seemed a bit off to me. The combat wasn't exactly challenging. I know that the player is supposed to feel badass, but I never once felt like I should care once I got into a fight. The bullets bounced off me like rubber and apparently police are made out of balsa wood. Maybe it was part of the build, maybe it was part of the final product, either way, I'm not impressed with the combat.
All in all, it's not the best game at the show, but there's a level of craziness and fun that makes it entertaining.
