Set on an open world in the golden age of piracy, (the ones that say "Arrr!", not the ones that involve downloading) real-time strategy game Pirates of the Black Cove offers a little something for everyone.
Pirates of the Black Cove begins with picking your main character who, at the start of the game, is unaffiliated with the three main factions. Choose from Pirates, Buccaneers, or the Corsairs, each specialize differently and have different skill sets. Corsairs are experts at training hawks, and they allow you to get a 'bird's eye view' of the terrain or the sea. Buccaneers are excellent marksmen. Spend your XP wisely on either yourself in your skill/ability trees or your crew in theirs. Sharing is caring, people but, without a proper crew you won't get far in the many missions available to you.
Recruit famous pirates to your crew and these different pirates have different abilities, like one who has a barrel for a leg. He can help repair your ship. Within each faction are seven character types, not all of them shall be outlined here. One of which has yet to be officially named, but internally they're called 'Beefcakes,' characters who carry around huge cannons. Metal-mongers wield huge swords. There will be five more characters like these.
As mentioned before it's an open world. Exploration is a main part of the game, and a sense of adventure. Naval battles have been done before by these developers and they're sure you'll enjoy the ones in the game. Land battles are new but they're shorter skirmishes, more suited to the pirate style of fighting. Gain fame and notoriety to win over the other factions. Once you've got all three factions on your side, then you can go up against the evil pirates of the Black Cove, ultimately to become the Pirate King.
Pirates of the Black Cove is exclusively for PC. The release date is TBA.
