It is difficult to believe that The Conduit is a year old. That game was developed by High Voltage Software specifically to challenge the preception of what can be done on the Wii. The Conduit has a performance graphics engine and crisp first person controls, and despite the tepid market response it is one of the better first person shooters for the Wii.
With Conduit 2, High Voltage is hoping to push the boundaries again, and they have the full support of SEGA backing them. Visually, the graphics engine is improved. Textures are crisp and enviroments are immersive. Lighting and shading effects abound. The character models are 3D and fully articulated, but not as realistically as motion capture.
The controls have also been improved thanks to the optional inclusion of Wii Motion Plus. Since Wii Motion Plus can detect the cursor's position, even when it is off screen, the jitter that was associated with the original title has been removed. The "Z" trigger on the nunchuck will target an enemy. This is a visual target only,a dn is used to help track enemies in the enviroment. You still have to aim the cursor to frag. It is not an aim assist.
The multiplayer has also been upgraded. 12 players will be supported online and 4 players can play locally by way of splitscreen. The fascinating feature that was demoed is the LAN ability. With 4 player split screen and LAN abilities you can have some old school LAN fun with your Wii console. This was shown working on the show floor and High Voltage hopes to include it in the retail copy of the game.
I only got a brief look at Conduit 2, but gamrReview will have a deeper look later this week when we go behind closed doors with SEGA. Conduit 2 will release during Q4 of this year on Wii.
