Sega has lain off some of its staff in its London office, Polygon has been told:
"Sega is in the process of consolidating certain functions of the Sonic and Mobile departments within Sega of America, where the management and production for those areas of the business reside. As part of that strategy a limited number of redundancies have taken effect in our European office, based in London."
Speaking to Eurogamer, Sega said that "This will not affect Sonic Boom development", which is blunt but nonetheless good news.
This unfortunately follow a pattern at Sega in recent years; last year the company made a number of American employees redundant, and in 2012 Sega shut down studios in order to focus on core franchises.
