Five Year Old Finds Flaw in Microsoft Password Protection - News

By Patrick Day-Childs, April 4, 2014

A five year old boy - Kristoffer Von Hassel, from San Diego - has officially been thanked by Microsoft after revealing a flaw in their password protection for Xbox services.

Kristoffer discovered he could log into his father's account by entering the wrong password, thus bringing up a second password screen then filling the password field on that screen with a bunch of blank spaces (by mashing the space bar).

He got four free games and a year's worth of Xbox Live Gold for his efforts, and his name also appears in this snazzy list of security researchers.
