Square Enix Montreal has announced Hitman GO, a turn based strategy game for tablets and smartphones based on the Hitman franchise. The game was revealed today on the official Hitman website.

Agent 47 infiltrates Alexey Pajitnov's backyard.

"We had total creative freedom to explore this and see what we could come up with...and we decided to develop something quite different and, we hope, totally unexpected," wrote Square Enix Montreal.

Hitman GO tasks players with navigating "fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate well-guarded locations". The game will include standard Hitman tools such as "disguises, distractions, sniper rifles and even 47’s iconic Silverballers".

There is no release date given for Hitman GO, but Square Enix Montreal says that the game is close to launch. The developer will continue to update the official Hitman site with more information about Hitman GO. They also teased an upcoming reveal for another project within the Hitman franchise that they are working on.
