Bad news for all those looking forward Shadow of the Eternals (the spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem): the game has failed to reach its Kickstarter goal. Not only that but it failed to gain even half of its $750,00 goal, raising only $323,950.
This is not the first time Shadow of the Eternals has been unsuccessful in raising money. Their first campaign was cancelled in June after raising only $128,039 of a $1,350,000 goal, with the justification that they were halting it to focus on "exciting new developments".
So does this second unsuccessful Kickstarter mean that Shadow will never see the light of day? Well, it's not impossible for the project to bounce back (third time's the charm, after all) and it would be a shame if such a great idea were to go to waste, but it will be very difficult. Time will, as ever, tell.
