It's been in Beta for roughly two years but now, finally, Valve have announced the official release of Dota 2, their free-to-play sequel to the game responsible for League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth and numerous other 'MOBA' games.

Although it's no longer in Beta and is now free to play for all, due to the anticipated volume of players expected to sign up over the next few hours and days there's a 'launch queue', so if you're interested in playing the game and haven't yet received an invite, head on over to the official site and sign up to reserve a spot.
