Avalanche Studios' upcoming open-world take on Mad Max was one of the suprise announcements of this year's E3, but when seeing the game in action, many journalists noted a surprising lack of Australian accent for the titular hero. The Mad Max film trilogy, starring Mel Gibson, was entirely filmed in Australia and is one of the staples of Australian pop-culture. To see this iconic hero sporting a generic, gruff American accent was disappointing to many.
Well, they can put their disappointment at rest, as Avalanche Studios has announced that Mad Max's voice will now, indeed, be Australian. In a statement from his Twitter account, head of Avalanche Christopher Sundberg made this announcement:
Attn. fans who want Max to have an Aussie accent in #MadMaxGame : It shall be so. We admire your loyalty. You have been heard.— Christofer Sundberg (@CHSundberg) July 2, 2013
So, there you have it. An awesome-looking game is now even more awesome thanks to developers who actually listen to their fans. How about that.
