Battlefield 4 was officially announced yesterday for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, though we assume that next-gen console versions will also come out in some shape or form. However, it looks like the Wii U will NOT be a home to DICE's long-running military franchise.
"I think overall for me as creative director, number one is to deliver a really great game and experience," said creative director Lars Gustavsson while speaking with VideoGamer on the prospect of bringing Battlefield 4 to the Wii U. "Sometimes, at least for us, it's focus on what you do well and what you know well, and ensure that you deliver something good than trying a bit too much, stretching yourself too thin and risking it."
Battlefield 4 joins the growing list of upcoming high-profile games not making their way to Wii U, including Saints Row IV, Dead Island: Riptide, and Grand Theft Auto V. With the advent of next-gen consoles approaching, will Nintendo's new hardware find itself in a similar position as the Wii this generation? I guess time will tell.
