Namco Bandai announced yesterday that two anticipated titles, Project X Zone and One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2, will release in North America this summer. Previously, Project X Zone was only confirmed for Japan, while Pirate Warriors 2 had only been announced for Japan and Europe.
Project X Zone is a strategy RPG that features a cavalcade of characters from the rosters of Namco Bandai, Capcom, and Sega. This 3DS crossover game is bound to please fans of any of these companies. Project X Zone is slated for a release in North America, Europe, and Australasia this summer. If you haven’t been keeping up with the Project X Zone news, this trailer should fill you in.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 is the follow-up to last year’s original Pirate Warriors entry, which we quite enjoyed. This entry takes place in the New World, after the events of the first game. It also includes Skypiea, an arc that was excluded from the original Pirate Warriors. Like the original, it’s a One Piece meets Dynasty Warriors mashup as Luffy and co. obliterate all who stand in their way. Pirate Warriors 2 will be released in Japan for PS3 and Vita on March 20th. However, North America will only get a downloadable version for PS3, as was the case with the previous installment. Europe will receive the game on PS3, with no word on a possible Vita release. Watch the trailer below to see the game in action.
Also announced at the Namco Bandai press event was Tekken Card Tournament. The popular fighting game series joins the card game realm in this mobile/tablet/web browser game. The game will be free-to-play and will launch soon, with physical Tekken card booster packs available in the Spring. These cards can be played in a physical card battle, or scanned into the game to boost abilities and add new fighters to the digital version.
Finally, Namco Bandai mentioned a special announcement will be made on February 4th. What could it be?
