Tomorrow, Wii U owners in the United States and Canada will get to experience the Nintendo TVii service. Originally expected to be available at launch, the service was delayed for about a month. We now know that TVii will launch tomorrow, December 20th, just one day before the Mayans destroy the Earth. (That is still happening, right?)
"At least I get my TVii for a day."
Nintendo TVii is a service that promises to link up your cable/satellite provider’s TV offerings with that of various video services such as Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video. Combine this with the Wii U GamePad’s ability to be used as a universal remote and you may never need that old TV remote again.
The initial launch of TVii will combine your cable/satellite programming with Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video subscriptions. Support for Netflix and TiVo will be added sometime in 2013, according to Nintendo. Until then, the Wii U has a separate Netflix app already available.
