If things go according to director Rich Moore, he just might.
In an interview with Screen Rant, the Wreck-It Ralph director said he and star John C. Reilly were already discussing plans to include the Italian plumber icon in Wreck-It Ralph 2, although Disney has yet to greenlight a sequel (but with over $200 million at the box-office worldwide, why shouldn't they?).
Interestingly, according to Moore, the reason Mario didn't appear in the first film wasn't due to licensing rights from Nintendo, but because they “couldn’t find anywhere for him to go.”
“We’ll really come up with something good for Mario to do [in the next film]“, said Moore. “To be able to present him in the sequel, would be great.”
We don't normally cover movie news here at gamrReview, but given the subject matter, we'll let this one slide. What did you guys think of Wreck-It Ralph? Would you like to see Mario make a formal apperance in the sequel? Let us know in the comments!
