Bethesda-published stealth action/adventure game Dishonored (read our review here) launched last month to an excellent critical reception; a feat made all the more impressive by the relatively lacklustre reception other, more hyped titles have received over the last month or so. Well it appears it's performed extremely well financially as well. Destructoid are quoting Bethesda's Pete Hines as saying:
"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter. We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."
It's great to see fresh, new IP take off in a big way and it looks like we can expect to see a Dishonored sequel somewhere down the line. In the meantime you can look forward to a trio of DLC packs for the game, the first of which releases next month.
