UPDATE: The store has been temporarily returned to its old version due to the technical difficulties faced by users.

A little under a week ago, Sony released the first screenshots of a long-rumoured redesign of the PlayStation Store (which has looked more or less the same since the first redesign a few years ago). Today, the new design has been launched in Europe, with a North American release to follow on 23rd October.

Sony calls the new design "more streamlined and accessible". Inspired by customer feedback, it features a carousel menu system, featuring larger images with less detail than before on the home screen, and options to go to a more detailed menu. The search function has also been improved.

Some customers have been having issues with the new Store, in particular problems adding funds to their account. The initial loading time also appears to be much longer than before. Sony promises that it is looking into these issues.
