Sony Patent 'Tongue Control' - News

The Wii Vitality Sensor. Remember that thing? Shown at E3 2009 and then never heard from again. Not ones to be outdone in the crazy ideas department, Sony have gone one further and patented a form of tongue control. Yes, seriously. PlayStationLifeStyle discovered the patent yesterday and posted the accompanying images and brief descriptions, including this one:


The tongue tracking apparatus would consist of a mouthpiece configured to be worn over one or more of the teeth of the user, and would include one or more sensors configured to determine the 'tongue orientation characteristics of the user', which could then be reflected in the game, presumably.

You'd think this is one idea you could safely mark up in the 'ideas that'll never see the light of day' box, but apparently someone at Sony disagrees.
