Sony and Team Ico's The Last Guardian is finding itself dangerously close to the brink of "development hell", with its unveiling dating all the way back to E3 2009 and scarsely anything to show for it since then. After absenses at both this year's E3 as well as this week's Tokyo Game Show, many are speculating that the game has been scrapped.

However, this is not so, according to an anonymous Sony developer, who spoke to Kotaku about the state of the game. "I give you my word that it exists", he said, but that "There are lots of pieces to the puzzle," and that development is "a matter of getting them to fit together."
The anonymous developer also stated that perhaps the game was announced too early, and that since then Sony has become more keen on revealing games closer to the release date.
Team Ico's previous games, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are two of the most wonderful experiences that the medium has to offer. I sincerely hope that The Last Guardian will see the light of day, so this news is promising.
