Battlefield has come a long way in the ten years of its existence, from Battlefield 1942, a multiplayer-only PC FPS, to Battlefield 3 with its fully fleshed single player campaign, available on both HD consoles at launch.

To celebrate the series' long history, publishers EA have discounted all games (you may need to change region) in the Battlefield series by 50% on Origin, their online game store and distribution service. Move quickly if you want to catch the deals, however: they expire at midnight today.

This is only the beginning of  a week of celebrations for the anniversary; according to the Battlefield Blog, "Each day until September 28 will feature something new from the rich history of the Battlefield series." DICE have also released a new set of downloadable Battlefield wallpapers - head over to the blog to download them - and announced the Wake Island Dog Tag Challenge, in which players on each platform race to get the most games played on the Wake Island map.
