Ever since the Wii U was announced, many details have been shrouded in mystery. Today, Nintendo revealed the price and release date for the Wii U in multiple regions.
There will be two models of the Wii U: an 8 GB, White Wii U and a 32 GB, Black Wii U as the "Premium" option. The premium edition also offers a 10% discount on games purchased through the Nintendo Network Premium subscription.
The 8 GB model comes with a GamePad (controller), AC cables and HDMI cable, while the 32 GB model adds in the NintendoLand game a console stand, GamePad stand, sensor bar
North America will see the Wii U first, as it reaches those shores on November 18th. The 8 GB Wii U will retail for $299 and the 32 GB premium Wii U for $349.
Europe receives the Wii U next, on November 30th. As of time of writing, no price has been announced, but we do know Rayman Legends will launch with the system.
Japan is last to the party, where the Wii U is set for a December 8th release. The models cost ¥26,250 ($338) and ¥31,500 ($405) respectively.
Plenty of news is breaking as the American and European presentations continue. Here are a few tidbits that we know as of time of writing:
- The Nintendo TVii service will combine movies, sports, and television shows into one channel. It can combine multiple services (such as Hulu and Netflix) together and will make recommendations based on your viewing history. It also has social interaction via Twitter and Facebook.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is coming to Wii U.
- Bayonetta 2 is, surprisingly, a Wii U exclusive. Platinum Games also will release The Wonderful 101, which can be best described as a galatic Pikmin.
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will release in America and Europe in March 2013 for both Wii U and 3DS. The game will allow you to play your character on either version.
- 007 Legends will be on the Wii U during the launch window (November 2012-March 2013).
